Help Autistic Children is a Farnham based chairty which supports children with autism.
The money generated from this Charity will be used by individuals and organisations porviding help and support to children with Autism and their families, by providing funds for specialist equipment, treatment, therapies and grants.
Help Autustic Children was set up in 2001. Monies raised from various events over the years has helped numerous autistic children, their schools and their families with equipment, treatments and with respite care - much needed in the autustic family.
Kilimanjaro Here We Come

A team of Farnham men aim to raise money for Help autistic Children by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in February.
Mark Powis, Paul Findlay, Gareth Roberts and Mark Nicholas are taking on the challenge of getting from base camp to the top of the world’s highest free standing, snow covered equatorial mountain, standing at 6KM, in just seven days.
Co-founded by one of those undertaking the challenge, Mark Powis, the charity has funded soft play equipment for Farnham and Guildford-based Disability Challengers as well as a mini bus and other equipment for Freemantles, Surrey’s only state school for autistic children.
Mark told the Farnham Herald; “My autistic daughter, 13 year old Jemima, was the catalyst for setting up Help Autistic Children and we try to raise funds for various charities every year through golf days and various other events.
But fundraising has become increasingly difficult since the recession, so we were keen to do something a little more adventurous. We’ve walked the 100 mile West Highland Way in Scotland before, but nothing as extreme as Mount Kilimanjaro.”
The altitude, low temperature, and occasional high winds make Kilimanjaro a notoriously difficult and dangerous trek. Most people suffer from some degree of altitude sickness, which frequently prevents people from making it to the summit.
Mark, Paul Gareth and Mark will join a group of eight local guides and porters on the climb.
Adam Edwards, from Disability Challengers, said; “We are so grateful for the team from HAC for taking on this massive challenge in aid of local disabled children and their families. Not only have they raised tens of thousands of pounds to help set up Challengers Farnham, they are now helping to fund hundreds of children to have fun and give their families a short break.”
